Subcontractor FairWind has secured an agreement with Bladt Industries to install the electrical components in the transition pieces for the 1400MW Hornsea 2 offshore wind project off the UK coast.
Denmark-based FairWind will install the electrical components and cables in the project’s 135 monopile transition pieces.
The scope of work includes full electrical installation, including light study design of the cable support system, and installing all components, including free issued items from the end-client.
Bladt Industries is fabricating the transition pieces in Aalborg, Denmark.
FairWind completed the electrical installation of 59 transition pieces for the Borssele 1&2 offshore wind project in March 2020.
The company said it has hired high voltage (HV) trainees to gain experience on projects, as well as upgraded several technicians from the 33KV to the 66KV HV certification standard to meet growing demand for its services from the offshore wind industry.
Hornsea 2 is located 89km off the Yorkshire coast in the North Sea. Orsted is the project developer.
