Chinese turbine manufacturer Mingyang Smart Energy has won a turbine supply deal for the Shanghai Fengxian offshore wind farm.
The company said it will deliver 15 MySE6.45-180 turbines starting in May 2021.
Hardware will be equipped with 86.5-metre blades that are designed to achieve the lowest cost of energy and cut installation and O&M costs, Mingyang said.
“Competitive tailor-made solution is the key to achieving maximum return on investment,” the company added.
“Our journey in offshore wind area continues, with our profound experience and project management expertise of offshore wind, aiming to drive the further growth of wind energy to a cheaper, stronger and brighter future.”
Mingyang said Shanghai Fengxian is among the first Chinese projects awarded capacity in a competitive auction in the country.
“This significant event highlights Mingyang’s ambition and ability of supporting our customers winning the project auction with optimal wind farm solution.”
Local media reported that Goldwind has been selected to provide turbines for another cluster at the project, which has a total capacity of up to 200MW, according to reports.
