Dutch company Jumbo is to support DEME Offshore by transporting monopiles and transition pieces for Orsted’s 1400MW Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm off the east coast of England.
Jumbo will transport 165 monopiles from Rostock to Eemshaven and 135 transition pieces from Aalborg to Eemshaven using a K3000 class vessel.
The company will also undertake the project management for the transport scope, including the engineering and design of both transportation and cradles.
Jumbo will start transportation of the monopiles and TPs in August, it said.
The company added that the K3000 class vessel offers 3250 square metres of free deck space, and has 3000-tonne lifting capacity with its dual 1500-tonne cranes.
Jumbo commercial manager renewables Boudewijn van der Garden says: “We are very pleased to be working alongside DEME Offshore on the Hornsea 2 project.
“This contract is an affirmation of our previous work in the offshore wind industry.
“Our scope here once again demonstrates the suitability of the K3000 class in supporting the development of sustainable energy projects such as this.”
