US developer 8minute Solar Energy has acquired the 387MW Eagle Shadow Mountain project in Nevada in partnership with asset manager Capital Dynamics.
The solar PV project located on the Moapa River Indian Reservation in Clark County is slated for completion and opening by the end of 2021.
Upon completion, the Eagle Shadow Mountain project is expected to generate more than 900,000 megawatt-hours per year.
Municipal utility NV Energy has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement for the output.
The Eagle Shadow Mountain project will increase 8minute’s US portfolio to over 15GW of solar PV and storage under development.
8minute said Eagle Shadow Mountain is anticipated to generate up to 400 new jobs during the 18-month construction period, with 10 full-time employees working at the plant upon completion.
The developers will tap into workers from the Moapa Band of Paiutes local tribe for building and operating the solar plant, which will also feature battery storage.
“It’s an honour to be collaborating with the Moapa Band of Paiutes on this project,” said 8minute chief executive Tom Buttgenbach.
“With a proven track record of on-time, on-budget delivery, 8minute Solar is confident that Eagle Shadow Mountain will be a lifelong asset to the Moapa River Indian Reservation community-and we’re grateful to Capital Dynamics for their contribution to making it happen.”
