UK Secretary of State for Business and Industrial Planning Andrea Leadsom has postponed a planning decision on Vattenfall’s around 300MW Thanet 2 offshore wind farm extension off the Kent coast of England.
No new deadline has been set while further information is provided on the proposed project.
BEIS said a new deadline for a decision would be announced as soon as possible once the UK parliament in in session, with parliament not currently in session due to a general election.
The Secretary has requested a raft of further information on the project.
This includes gaining views on a new risk collision assessment with shipping and a new draft development consent order, confirmation that a lease agreement has now been agreed with the Crown Estate and that agreements have been reached on several compulsory acquisitions needed for the project.
Further information on the impact on fish spawning also needs to be agreed before going forward as well as on saltmarsh mitigation, BEIS said.
