UK company AIS Training has been approved by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) to deliver a certified slinger signaller course in northern England.
The courses will be delivered from AIS Training’s renewable energy training centre of excellence (pictured) in North Tyneside.
The two-day, wind-specific offering provides a minimum standard to ensure safe lifting during manufacturing, installation and maintenance of wind turbines and their components where crane operations are necessary.
GWO’s new standard was introduced last month after a review of training certificates revealed hundreds of wind workers required slinger signaller qualifications.
“It is part of a drive by GWO for a more standardised approach to skills and competency training in the wind sector and reflects the industry’s focus on safety and project efficiency,” said AIS vice-president for UK and Europe training Paul Knowles.
