Brazilian renewables developer Renova has filed for bankruptcy protection before a Sao Paulo court to restructure debts worth more than 3bn reais (€652m).
The announcement, which was made in a securities filing on Wednesday, came two days after shareholder Light sold its 17.17% stake in the company for a symbolic 1 Brazilian real.

Renova had also been trying to sell wind farm projects to Brazilian renewables developer AES Tiete Energia, but negotiations collapsed last week after months of talks, according to local media.
