Work will start today on geophysical surveys for the 800MW Vineyard Wind offshore wind farm off the US east coast.
The RV Shearwater vessel will carry out the surveys, which are expected to continue until mid-November depending on the weather.

The findings will be used to further design the wind farm and refine the location of the export cable route, Vineyard Wind said.
The work will cover the Vineyard Wind lease area, as well as between the lease area and Cape Cod, including the Muskeget Channel and Nantucket Sound.
Vineyard Wind is being devleoped by a joint venture of Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
It will feature 81 MHI Vestas V164-9.5MW turbines.
