The Crown Estate has hosted a Round 4 bidders day to give offshore wind developers further insight into how it will run the 7GW seabed rights auction.
More than 130 industry representatives attended the event in London, which included a discussion on the four bidding areas that have been identified off north Wales, north-east England and in the North Sea off east England.
The seabed landlord also outlined how bidders will have the opportunity to propose their project sites, detailed of the tender process and evaluation criteria as well as supporting data to be provided on constraints and an update on timing.
Business development manager Jonny Boston said: “Welcoming so many delegates to today’s event demonstrates the really positive interest we have seen in Round 4 leasing in the waters around England and Wales.
“This is a great opportunity to get involved in the largest offshore wind market in the world and we look forward to formally opening the tender process later this month.”
The round was launched recently following 18 months of preparations.
A pre-qualification questionnaire is due to be released later this month. The tender process is expected to run to October 2020.
