Deutsche Windtechnik has secured operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts for five UK wind farms operated by Innogy.
The deal covers a total of 40 Senvion turbines, including MM70, MM82 and MM92 models, and runs for three years.
The first wind farm to be taken over is the 20.5MW Bradwell in Essex (pictured) with work starting last month. The remaining unnamed four wind farms will follow in November.
The contracts will see the UK subsidiary of Deutsche Windtechnik service Senvion turbines for the first time, adding the German manufacturer to its knowledge base of Siemens Gamesa, Bonus and NEG Micon machines.
Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd managing director Billy Stevenson said: “Within the Deutsche Windtechnik group we cover Senvion turbines with a capacity of 590MW already.
“We have a very close knowledge transfer with the training centre and engineering department of Deutsche Windtechnik in Germany, so we guarantee a top level service quality starting with the first day of the term.”
Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd will employ additional service teams, engineers and supervisors with knowledge in Senvion technology.
The company said the total number of employees in the UK business unit is currently 100.
