Dutch outfit SeaZip Offshore Service is partnering with Taiwan Offshore Wind Farm Services Corporation (TOWSC) to provide services to the offshore wind market in Taiwan.
Offshore wind operations and maintenance service provider TOWSC and crew transfer vessel supplier SeaZip have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the provision of logistical solutions covering construction, commissioning and O&M.
The Taiwanese company, which is a subsidiary of Taiwan Generations Corporation, is currently servicing the met mast at the 128MW Fuhai offshore wind farm.
It will expand its role at the wind farm when construction of the project’s 15 turbines starts.
TOWSC is also targeting work on other projects, including the 100MW TPC 1, 552MW Changfang, 48MW Xidao and 300MW TPC 2.
It aims to gather “international resources to offer localised and integrated O&M services” comprising turbine technician supply, logistics arrangements, marine coordination, balance of plant inspection and survey, operations control and asset integrity management.
Taiwan Generations Corporation business development manager Michael Wang said: “Fuhai and other projects in 2020 will be our starting points and we will extend the business in Changhua through our collaboration with CIP for Changfang and Xidao under the O&M MoU.”
SeaZip managing owner Jan Reier Arends said: “Until now we put our focus on offshore projects in Northern Europe, in particular the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Irish Sea.
“Over the years we saw opportunities in Taiwan as well, because the offshore wind industry in Taiwanese unfolding rapidly with European players taking up important positions.
“We searched very carefully for a trustful Taiwanese partner and take our time to join forces with TOWSC to approach the promising Taiwanese market.”
