A total of 38 renewables projects totalling 259MW were successful in Argentina’s latest auction.
Ten wind projects were awarded 128.7MW and 13 solar plants won with a combined capacity of 96.75MW.
Biomass, biogas and small hydro accounted for the remaining capacity.
The average weighted price for the wind farms was $58.04 a megawatt-hour, while for solar the price was $57.59/MWh.
Elawan, formerly known as Gestamp, secured nine wind projects to be located in the regions of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Santa Cruz and La Pampa. PE Adelia Maria won the other wind farm, which will be located in Cordoba.
The government said the projects that won represent investments totalling $368m and will generate about 1000 jobs.
It also said that 12 other projects totalling 62.75MW that were not successful, but were technically qualified, had been invited to sign contracts at the minimum price awarded to each technology.
The Round 3 mini-auction covered small-scale projects because of potential grid constraints and to encourage decentralised supply, the government added.
