Dutch outfit Heerema Marine Contractors has signed a contract with Jan De Nul to install 21 jacket foundations for the 110MW Changhua phase 1 offshore wind farm in Taiwan, its first such deal on the Asian island.
Heerema will deploy its heavy lift vessel Aegir to carry out the work.
Installation will take place 8km off the coast of Changhua county, at water depths of 18 to 28 metres, Heerema said.
The work will start in March 2020 and is planned for completion in early June of the same year.
The project is being developed by Taiwan Power Company and executed by a consortium of Jan de Nul and Hitachi.
Heerema Marine Contractors chief executive Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven said: “This is our first contract in Taiwan, thus another major milestone.
“This Changhua project re-emphasises Heerema’s commitment to operate in wind projects all over the world and strengthen our position in the Asian offshore wind market.”
