Installation of the first turbine has started at the 25MW WindFloat Atlantic floating offshore wind farm off Portugal.
Work on the MHI Vestas V164-8.4MW machine is taking place in the outer harbour of Ferrol in Spain, where the first floating platform is moored.

The project developers said assembly will take several weeks in preparation for offshore operations, scheduled for the end of the summer, when the floating structure will depart for its final location 20km off Portugal’s Viana do Castelo coast.
In total, WindFloat Atlantic will comprise three MHI Vestas machines on semi-submersible platforms supplied by Principle Power.
The other project developers are EDP Renovaveis, Engie and Repsol.
