Trianel Erneuerbare Energien has acquired the 9MW Wennerstorf wind farm in Germany from ABO Wind for an undisclosed price.
The project, which is located at Wenzendorf in Lower Saxony, comprises two Nordex N149 4.5MW turbines with rotor diameters of 150 metres and hub heights of 125 metres.
Wennerstorf brings Trianel Erneuerbare Energien’s renewables portfolio to about 190MW across eight federal states in Germany.
Trianel Erneuerbare Energien managing director Markus Hakes said: “With the Wennerstorf wind farm, we are completing our renewables portfolio with the latest generation of wind turbines, thus following our investment strategy for a technically efficient and broadly based investment pool.
“The park design developed by ABO Wind impressively demonstrates the possibilities of a modern wind farm.”
ABO Wind head of finance and sales Petra Leue-Bahns said: “As a project developer from the very beginning, ABO Wind has already gained a lot of experience in repowering wind farms. In Wennerstorf we quadrupled the yield compared to the predecessor wind farm.
“With Trianel, we have found the right partner for the implementation of such complex projects.”
ABO Wind will continue to carry out the technical management of the wind farm.
Trianel Erneuerbare Energien is Trianel’s renewables unit and is partly owned by 40 local and regional utilities.
