The UK Planning Inspectorate has completed its examination of Vattenfall’s application to build an around 300MW extension to its existing 300MW Thanet offshore wind farm off Kent.
The inspectorate will send its recommendation to the UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy by 11 September and a final decision is due by 11 December.

Vattenfall is looking to deploy up to 34 turbines at the proposed project, which is 8km off located from shore in depths of between 13 and 43 metres.
The original project entered operation in 2010 and features 100 Vestas V90 3MW turbines.
