Orsted has awarded South Korean company LS Cable & System a contract for subsea cables for the 900MW Changhua 1&2a offshore wind farm off Taiwan.
LS Cable said that the wires will be delivered by 2021.

LS Cable president Roe-hyun Myung said: “LS C&S entered the submarine cable business in 2009 and has since completed large projects in Europe, North America, the Middle East and other regions.
“Within just 10 years the company has gained global competence. Offshore wind power development is becoming more active, especially in Europe and Asia, and continuous growth of the submarine cable business is expected.”
Changhua 1&2a will feature Siemens Gamesa 167-8.0MW turbines and is expected to start offshore construction in 2021.
