ScottishPower Renewables has tweaked plans for the proposed 800MW East Anglia One North and 800MW East Anglia Two projects off Suffolk to improve their looks.
The turbine layout at the projects has been modified following feedback from a land-to-sea visual impact assessment.
“Our new turbine layout will break up the view out to sea by effectively creating gaps between the development areas,” the developer said.
Provision for visual screening around the onshore substation sites for both projects has also been increased.
The developer said it no longer plans to use Thorpness Road to access the landfall site during construction and the number of construction compounds that will be used during the build has been cut from seven to six.
“Concerns were raised over the size of our construction compound sites so following a review of our East Anglia One experience we are reducing these by 60% and have also removed one altogether,” the developer said.
“This will result in less works traffic needed for construction and reinstatement.”
The projects will be submitted for DCO examination in October this year, with final consent due in 2021.
