Engineer LOC expands into Hamburg

Engineering consultancy LOC Group has opened a new office in Hamburg, Germany, to develop the renewables and shipping offering of the group.

Hamburg will be LOC Group’s sixth office in Europe and its 26th base globally.

The company said the office will be led by Christoph Ruck and Emek Ersin Takmaz.

Ruck is a naval architect and international welding engineer, with a background in the German maritime industry.

He has had nine years of experience working with German ship owning companies operating in heavy lift and project business, and five years of experience working with DNV GL, the classification outfit.

Takmaz is also a naval architect and a project manager with global experience in marine industry.

He previously worked with an unnamed German ship owner for five years and was responsible for heavy lift and project cargo operations across the renewables, infrastructure and oil and gas sectors.

Takmaz also spent two years with an engineering, procurement, construction and installation company in the Middle East, where he worked on medium-large scale marine transportation and offshore installation projects.

LOC said the team are well placed to bid for and win competitive and non-competitive tendered work, as well as being able to leverage the services provided by Innosea and Longitude to the German renewables market.

LOC Group chief executive RV Ahilan said: “The opening of our German office marks an exciting and important strategic step for the Group, as we look to expand our Shipping and Renewables offering in Europe.”

Takmaz said: “We are building a very strong team in Germany, all of whom have considerable experience and knowledge in the Renewables and Shipping markets to provide the best support for our clients in the region.”

Ruck said: “Given the strong track record of the team, we feel well placed to capitalise on shipping and renewables opportunities in the German and European markets.

“Our ambition is to continue to grow the Hamburg offering and further strengthen LOC’s global position as the premier marine and engineering consulting firm.”
