Chinese construction machinery manufacturer XCMG has installed a rotor at a height of 140 metres for the Baixiang onshore wind farm in Hebei province.
The company used its XCA1600 wheeled crane to install the rotor, which had a diameter of 141 metres and weighed nearly 90 tonnes.
The crane lifted and docked the rotor in only 40 minutes while engineers spent another 90 minutes to fasten all 80 bolts, XCMG said.
XCMG crane business division general manager Jianzhong Sun said: “China has the greatest number of wind farm installations.
“The 1600-tonne all-terrain crane, designed for projects at height has not only overcome many construction challenges with world-leading technology and strong quality, but it has also now made its name with this new record-breaking project complete as China leading crane technology and quality.”
The crane has a 92.4-metre seven section main boom and self-folding wind power boom of 27.5 to 52.5 metres.
