The switchyard platform for Elia’s modular offshore grid has left Heerema Fabrication Group’s yard at Zwijndrecht and been loaded onto a barge.
Elia said the move is the first step on the topside’s journey to installation in the North Sea.

The platform will be installed on a jacket foundation later this month, the company said.
It will be commissioned in the third quarter of this year and reach full capacity next year.
The modular offshore grid will connect offshore wind farms to the Belgian mainland.
