The Danish Wind Energy Association and the Danish Wind Industry Association have united into a new organisation called Wind Denmark, which will represent both project owners and the industry.
Wind Denmark will have offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Silkeborg and Esbjerg.
The combined entity will represent about 3100 members that employ over 34,000 people.
Wind Denmark chairman Mads-Ole Astrupgaard said: “On behalf of the wind sector I am incredibly pleased that Wind Denmark is now a reality. Wind Denmark is an association for all wind stakeholders in Denmark and is deeply rooted in the wind turbine owners’ history and the wind industry’s industrial revolution.
“Wind Denmark will build on the two associations’ 40 years of experience and bring it into play in the next phase of the green transition, where our focus on balancing production and consumption will increase.”
The former chairman of The Danish Wind Energy Association and, as of now, deputy chairman of Wind Denmark, Kristian Jakobsen, is also delighted with the successful merger.
He said: “When I look back at the more than 40 years of work accomplished by the Danish Wind Energy Association, it is with both pride and nostalgia.
“The association has been quintessential for the green transition of electricity in Denmark.
“The major challenge we are now facing is to ensure maximum usage of the green electricity in tomorrow’s energy system, where various energy sources are to cooperate.
“In this regard we share the interests of the Danish Wind Industry Association, which is why we are now joined forces in Wind Denmark.”
The chief executive of the Danish Wind Industry Association, Jan Hylleberg, will be the CEO of the new organisation, appointed by the executive committee of Wind Denmark.
A new logo and the visual identity will be revealed soon, Wind Denmark said.
