Enercon has started work on the over 844MW second phase of the Markbygden wind complex in Sweden and has renamed the project Maximus.
The project, located in the municipality of Pitea in the north of the country, will feature 201 E-138 EP3 turbines.
Enercon added that it has also started the search for investors in the project.
Infrastructure work that is underway includes building about 150km of access roads, the company said.
Maximus will start generating power as soon as grid connection is available in mid-2020 and will be fully operational by the end of the third quarter of 2021, Enercon said.
It added that the company took an investment decision on the project and signed a construction agreement in late 2017 with Swedish grid operator Svenska Kraftnat for the transformer station, which will be built in Trolltjarn.
Enercon managing director Hans-Dieter Kettwig said: “We are ready to market the project. We are convinced to find reliable partners who are interested in a long-term operation of the wind farm.
“The interest of potential investors is definitely there as we have learnt in previous projects in Sweden.”
The company has appointed DNB as advisor for the equity and power purchase agreement.
Nord/LB’s structured finance team will be the advisory partner for debt financing and Cirio is Enercon’s as legal advisor.
