JDR Cables has confirmed a contract with Vattenfall for Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm, the 605MW Kriegers Flak.
Under the terms of the deal, first reported by the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS in November 2018, JDR will produce more than 170km of aluminium core inter-array cables and a range of termination accessories.
The wires will be assembled in JDR’s Hartlepool factory in the UK, with project completion expected in 2021.
The array cables connecting the turbines will carry generated electricity to an offshore substation for transmission to shore. The offshore wind generation is a 33 kilovolt cable-designed system.
Kriegers Flak, located 15km east of the Danish coast in the southern part of the Baltic Sea, will feature 72 8.4MW turbines.
Vattenfall won the tender at a price of €0.049 per kilowatt-hour.
JDR Cables renewables sales director Mike Lovell said: “JDR’s track record for innovation cemented the deal and will help to drive cheaper energy for consumers.
“We are looking forward to the development of Danish Kriegers Flak and continuing our collaboration with Vattenfall in the future.”
