DEME Offshore has confirmed a selection of the tier one suppliers for the foundation contract for the 950MW Moray East offshore wind farm, located off Scotland.
The supplier deals, all of which were first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS, include the Port of Invergordon which has been lined up to act as a staging facility.
A large portion of the fabrication works – including all final assembly – of 55 jacket foundations will be done by Smulders yard in Wallsend, Newcastle, with support from fabrication activities in Europe.
The remaining jackets will be supplied by Dubai-based Rig Metals, which is part of the Lamprell Group, and then shipped and offloaded to northern Scottish ports.
A contract has also been awarded to PSG Marine & Logistics, which will manage the onshore handling works at the marshalling harbour in Invergordon.
Scottish outfit BiFab, which is owned by Canadians DF Barnes, has a deal to fabricate 150 pin piles, with the rest of the piles to be provided by German fabricator EEW.
Specialised UK-based davit crane supplier Granada is lined up to supply over 100 offshore cranes for the project.
DEME Offshore is the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractor for 100 foundations for the turbines, as well as three offshore substation platform foundations.
The company said in the coming months, together with partner Smulders, it will organise tier two supply chain workshops to identify and contract other work packages with local suppliers.

Project developer Moray Offshore Windfarm East is a joint venture of Diamond Green Limited (33.4%), EDPR (33.3 %), Engie (23.3%) and CTG (10%).
Moray East board member Dan Finch said: “This announcement marks another significant milestone for UK offshore wind as a low-cost, low-carbon supply of energy.
“It comes following extensive engagement with the supply chain, with the UK demonstrating competitiveness on a global scale by winning a major share of jacket fabrication.
“This follows last week’s announcement of pile fabrication at BiFab, while installation work provides more opportunities and the announcement of contracts with PSG Marine and Logistics at Invergordon and the supply of 100 cranes by Granada is more good news for the UK supply chain.”
