Irish engineering consultancy Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions has been appointed geotechnical consultants for the Baltica 2 and 3 offshore wind farms off the coast of Poland.
The projects are being developed by Polish developer PGE Energia Odnawialna and will total over 2.5GW, with Baltica 2 o 1.5GW and Baltica 3 1.045GW, GDG said.
It will carry out analysis of geophysical data, manage the survey campaigns, integrate geotechnical and geophysical data and develop a ground model for use in design.
The contract also includes an option to undertake foundation concept design studies as the ground model is developed, the consultancy added.
GDG managing director Paul Doherty said the company is “particularly excited to work with PGE and combine our technical knowledge to progress this exciting wind farm opportunity”.
He added: “Both companies have a shared objective to deliver the highest quality technical output and develop an accurate and reliable ground model for the site.
“The work that we are doing with PGE will assist in de-risking the project and accelerating the wind farm development process.”
