Danish wind outfit Vestas has won a 122MW turbine order for a project in Iowa plus two separate component deals for undisclosed projects also in the US.
The 122MW contract with Berkshire Hathaway Energy subsidiary MidAmerican Energy Company is for the Wind XI project.
The agreement includes supply and commissioning of V110-2.0 MW turbines and a ten-year service contract.
Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2019 while commissioning is planned for fourth quarter of 2019.
In addition Vestas has received component orders from undisclosed customers.
One is for a 40MW order of 4MW platform-compatible turbine components that qualify for the 60% production tax credit (PTC) value.
The other is for a 22MW order for 4MW platform-compatible turbine components, qualifying for the 60% PTC.
In the 40MW and 22MW component orders are for unnamed wind projects due to complete construction by the end of 2022.
The long-term PTC phasedown terms set in the PATH act, passed by Congress in 2015, made the wind industry the first energy industry to agree to permanent tax reform.
