Singapore developer Enterprize Energy has taken the wraps off plans to build the up to 3GW-plus Ke Ga offshore wind farm complex off the southern coast of Vietnam.
The 3.4GW project, which will be built in 600MW phases from the early 2020s and completed in around five years, will feature MHI Vestas turbines with a minimum rating of 9.5MW.
Enterprize said an initial feasibility study for the project, which will be built in 600MW phases, had identified a 2000 square development area at least 20km offshore Binh Thuan province, south and east of Ke Ga cape.
Project partners include Vietnamese outfits Petroleum Equipment Assembly & Metal Structure (PVC–MS) and Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro) while Societe Generale of France will lead project financing.
Enterprize chairman Ian Hatton said the 3.4GW complex would require an approximately $11.9bn investment excluding export transmission lines and substations with 500kV capacity to connect to the national grid.
The project has been submitted to the Vietnamese Prime Minister for consideration, said Enterprize.
