Industry and regional governments are calling on the French government to support annual capacity additions for offshore wind of 1GW instead of a recently announced 5GW cap by 2028.
The government has announced plans limit develop of offshore wind capacity – for fixed and floating technologies – to no more than 5GW by 2028.

Regions, including Brittany, Normandy, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, Pays de la Loire and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, have come together alongside trade groups France Energie Eolienne (FEE) and Syndicat des énergies renouvelables, plus businesses and industrial players active in offshore wind, to request to meet directly with the French prime minister to discuss the sector’s proposal.
