Onyx InSight is to provide predictive maintenance services to a fleet of wind farms totalling 950MW owned by Pattern Energy in North America.
Vibration sensors will be installed at the K2 and Armow wind farms in Ontario and connected to Onyx’s Fleet Monitor asset predictive platform.
Monitoring of the turbines at these wind farms will start in phases through to the first quarter of 2019.
Onyx will also provide monitoring and analysis of maintenance data across Pattern’s portfolio under a three-year deal.
Onyx group vice president Ashley Crowther said: “Our aim is to give project owners and operators the ability to take control of their O&M decision-making, whether that’s by scaling up our ecoCMS offering and using Fleet Monitor to remove obstacles to ‘going digital’, or by undertaking the in-depth technical analysis they need to get to grips with engineering challenges.
“Taking on responsibility for monitoring for 950MW of turbine production demonstrates the strength of the relationship we have with Pattern Energy as we collectively aim to increase uptime and reduce O&M costs.”
Meanwhile, Pattern Energy has bought a 35MW share of the 80MW Stillwater wind farm in Montana from Pattern Development 2.0 for $23m.
