Heerema Fabrication Group has agreed to offload part of its activities in the Netherlands to Italian outfit Rosetti Marino and is also looking for a buyer for its Hartlepool yard in the UK.
HFG has signed a letter of intent to sell its activities in Zwijndrecht to the Italian company for an undisclosed figure, which will also see the closing of the former’s head office with the loss of 60 jobs.
Heerema is also seeking a buyer for its activities in Hartlepool as its struggles with “insufficient project volume and marginal profitability”.
It said that clients were not prepared to pay for increasing risks surrounding the building of topsides, which has further impacted the company.
Activities at the HFG yard in Vlissingen in the Netherlands and Opole in Poland will continue as normal.
HFG chief executive Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven said: “We are very much aware that the intended plans will have a deep impact on our staff at the head office in Zwijndrecht.
“We will be providing every support we can offer in this very difficult period.”
The current intended divestment follows a restructuring of HFG in November 2016 that took place against the background of the decreased oil price, the consequent lack of investment in the oil and gas industry and unfavourable contractual conditions in the wind energy market.
