French outfit Blue Shark Power System has sealed a deal to provide 495 240kW tidal turbines with a total capacity of 120MW for projects in the African Republic of Djibouti.
Blue Shark Power System will work with the Franco-English developer Weco Weco on the project.

The company is currently carrying out preliminary studies and will test one turbine in a river in the country in the first half of next year. The first delivery of 80 turbines is planned for 2020.
Djibouti aims to half its electricity costs and cover all its energy needs through renewables by 2020.
Blue Shark Power Systems also aims to go public at the Paris stock exchange Euronext Access in the near future.
