Foresight Group has acquired Simple Power Limited, which has a portfolio of 52 sub-250kW single wind turbines located across Northern Ireland, for an undisclosed price.
The 52 wind turbines are fully operational and qualify for participation in the recently launched I-SEM market in Ireland.
Each turbine benefits from a standardised lease, grid connection and power purchase agreement, with long-term fixed price operation and maintenance agreements with several unnamed third-party contractors, Foresight said.
Foresight Group investment manager James Taggart said: “SPL’s wind portfolio is a fantastic acquisition with a volume of well positioned and operational single wind turbines around Northern Ireland.
“The portfolio has shown strong performance to date. We look forward to working closely with the Simple Power management team to continue the portfolio’s success and to further establish Foresight as a leader in the renewable energy sector.”
The acquisition increases Foresight’s wind portfolio to 115MW. It also owns 32 energy from plants totalling 115MW, 1.1GW of solar comprising 80 facilities and 45MW of battery storage.
