Irish Energy Minister Denis Naughten has resigned after a controversy involving a national broadband plan.
Naughten, who has overseen the ongoing design of new renewables support scheme RESS, stepped down this afternoon.

The County Roscommon TD has been embroiled in a controversy over meetings with a bidder for a national broadband contract, which was under his department’s remit.
Naughten told the national parliament today that he is “absolutely satisfied” there was no interference in the procurement process by him.
