Manufacturers Siemens Gamesa, Vestas and MHI Vestas have co-developed a list of components and systems with the potential for standardisation to help suppliers develop innovations to optimise turbine design, installation and operations and maintenance.
The list has been compiled as part of the annual research and innovation agenda of Megavind, a Danish public-private wind energy initiative.
It will be launched by MHI Vestas chief technology officer Torben Hvid Larsen at the Wind Energy Denmark event on 30 and 31 October.
The trio of manufacturers have listed areas with potential for further cost reduction as well as ‘core’ and ‘non-core’ technologies.
Larsen said: “These years, there is a strong focus on closer collaboration between manufacturers and suppliers.
“In launching this standardisation hot list, we at Wind Energy Denmark seek to do exactly that – inviting the industry to take part in prioritising collaboration across the value chain to take the next steps in realising cost reduction potential.
“I expect that in the coming two-three years we will see concrete innovation projects that are prompted by this hot list.”
