Siemens Gamesa has secured its first turbine order in Russia to supply Enel with 26 machines for the 90MW Azovskaya wind farm.
The deal for 3.4-132 hardware is part of a preliminary agreement signed with Enel in 2017 for the supply of turbines totalling 291MW for two projects in the country.
Siemens Gamesa will deliver, install and service the turbines at the project site in southern Russia.
Part of the components will be procured and assembled in Russia to fulfil so-called localisation requirements.
Siemens Gamesa onshore chief executive for North Europe and Middle East Steven Pryor said: “We are excited to report this milestone as part of our market entry in Russia and we appreciate the trust from our key account client Enel.
“This first contract comes in parallel with our ongoing activities for localisation of nacelle assembly and local component sourcing.”
