German turbine manufacturer Nordex has secured its first large-scale order for the N149/4.0-4.5 series unit for the 81MW Hedet wind farm in Finland.
A total of 18 machines with 135-metre towers will be delivered and installed at the site under a turnkey deal with developer Neoen.
The contract includes a long-term premium service contract for 15 years.
Preparatory work including on road and foundations will start shortly.
The first turbine is due to be installed by mid-2019 and the wind farm will be grid connected by the end of that year.
Hedet is located in western Finland near the town of Narpes and is a low to medium wind site.
“This first large order for the N149/4.0-4.5 with a long-term service contract is a very positive sign for the acceptance of our latest turbine generation in the market,” according to Nordex chief executive José Luis Blanco.
Neoen has already lined up internet giant Google on a corporate power purchase deal to supply one of the latter’s data centres.
