Van Oord has completed the acquisition of the majority of MPI Offshore from Vroon Group.
The deal sees the Dutch contractor acquire MPI’s Teesside base in Stokesley, Middlesbrough, along with jack-ups Adventure (pictured), Resolution and their crews. In total, 100 people will join the Van Oord UK organisation.
Van Oord also acquired the project contracts related to the vessels, including work at the London Array and Rampion projects off the UK and Prinses Amaliawindpark off the Netherlands coast.
The company said the acquisition is fully in line with its “ambitions and investment programme for the coming years”.
Van Oord chief executive Pieter van Oord said: “The acquisition of MPI Offshore helps us to strengthen our position in the UK wind market, the largest offshore wind market in the world.”
