Greencoat Renewables has contracted energy trading and services company Erova Energy to manage balancing for the Knockacummer and Kill Hills wind farms for the new electricity market across the island of Ireland.
Under the new Integrated Single Electricity Market (ISEM), which started today, all generators have to be ‘balance responsible’, Dublin-based Erova said.
The company added that the imbalance agreement means it provides trading for generators who are already in a contractual arrangement for Refit payments without the need to terminate the current arrangements.
Erova Energy’s Michael Donnelly said: “We are excited about our new contract offering to the Irish market and are delighted to have entered into an agreement with Greencoat Renewables.
“Working closely with clients and banks Erova have been able to develop a bespoke solution to some of the unique challenges posed by the ISEM.”
The 100MW Knockacummer wind farm is located in in County Cork and the 37.6MW Killhills facility in County Tipperary.
