Deutsche Windtechnik is buying two rotor blade clamps from Danish outfit Eltronic Wind Solutions, after signing a deal at the WindEnergy Hamburg trade fair.
The clamps allow the complete rotor star to be installed and uninstalled more efficiently, Windtechnik said.
They can be easily adjusted to different blade sizes and types and will be used for component exchange in Europe and the US.
Deutsche Windtechnik Service head of engineering Torsten Wohlert said: “We are confident that the new rotor blade clamps will enable us to replace large components even faster and more safely.
“This will have a positive effect on crane set-up times, technical availability and therefore on the overall time and cost balance.”
Eltronic senior sales manager Europe Henrik Toft Kromann said: “The rotor blade clamps `Mechanical Blade Clamp 5T’ that we developed are a tool for handling and lifting complete rotors up to the nacelle.”
