UK vessel designer Chartwell 24 has designed a new crew transfer vessel for the offshore wind industry.
The Chartwell 24 has been developed with CTV operators, wind farm owners and turbine makers, responding to lessons learnt in the construction and operations and maintenance phases of European projects.
It will be capable of carrying 24 personnel as well as three to six crew and will have the largest CTV foredeck in the market to enhance cargo capacity, Chartwell said.
The new vessel will also have four engines – and options for hybrid propulsion – and meets relevant international emissions regulations.
Chartwell managing director Andy Page said: “For crews and wind farm technicians, that will translate into a high degree of safety, comfort and operational familiarity.
“For CTV operators and project owners, that will result in incremental gains in efficiency, availability and reliability that ultimately improve the way offshore wind farms are constructed and operated.”
