ZX Lidars is the new name of Zephir Lidar and has launched a new turbine-mounted system for the wind market.
The ZX TM lidar has already been deployed on turbines at projects in Fred Olsen Renewables’ UK portfolio.
ZX TM remotely measures the wind ahead of the turbine in order to compare with energy production from the site to the available wind resource through accepted power curve measurements, ZX Lidars said.
ZX Lidars has also formed ZX Measurement Services, with Ian Ravey, formerly with RES, as managing director.
The new measurement company is based south-west of Glasgow and will initially operate across the UK and Europe.
It has contracts and framework agreements with wind farm developers and operators through 2018 and 2019, the company said.
