Portuguese fabricator ASM Industries has awarded Finnish outfit Pemamek with a contract worth €29m for automated equipment for making offshore wind tower and foundation structures.
The lines will form part of ASMI’s new plant that will assemble offshore structures at Aveiro Port. They will start operations in March 2019.
Pemamek’s automated offshore heavy tubular structure production lines include integrated milling stations for root preparation and assembly stations and lines for circular and longitudinal welding.
Pemamek areas sales manager Teijo Summanen said: “We are pleased to be selected as the supplier of ASMI’s offshore turbine tower and foundation production lines. During the past years, ASMI has been decisively focused on its growth and increased market share. It is only a privilege to be part of ASMI’s upswing.”
ASMI has previously worked with Pemamek and the new contract is a continuation of the automated tubular structure production line for offshore foundations installed in 2017.
The new factory will cover 72,000 square metres with a 22,000 metre squared area dedicated to fabrication.
