SSE has filed plans for an up to 80MW repowering of its Tangy wind farm cluster on the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland.
The utility developer is seeking permission to install 16 turbines of up to 5MW each on the site near Campbeltown.
The upgrade, being called Tangy 4, will feature hardware of up to 149.9 metre and will replace 22 turbines totalling 18.7MW.
SSE has been chasing an upgrade at Tangy for a number of years. A number of separate design iterations have been progressed with the latest application being the largest to date.
Tangy 3 was consented in 2015 as a 15 turbine project with 125-metre tips. A variation was granted last month to increase overall height of the machines to 130 metres.
Tangy 1 (pictured) went live in 2004 and features 15 Vestas 850kW turbines. Tangy 2 followed in 2007 and features seven Gamesa 850kW machines.
