German car maker Mercedes-Benz is to source power for its new plant at Jawor in Poland from VSB’s 45.1MW Taczalin wind farm.
Taczalin, which is located about 10km from the new plant, will deliver electricity to the Jawor facility from next year.
The wind farm has been operational since 2013 and comprises 22 turbines.
VSB managing director Marko Lieske said: “In choosing locally-generated electricity from renewable sources, Mercedes-Benz has assumed the role of an international pioneer in the automotive industry.
“We appreciate this opportunity to assist Mercedes-Benz on their path to carbon neutral manufacturing.”
