Elia Group made grid investments of €234m in Belgium and €104m in Germany in the first half of 2018 as part of plans to integrate more renewable energy.
The Belgian transmission system operator, which also owns 50Hertz in Germany, said all the main contracts for the offshore modular grid in Belgium have been awarded.
The grid will connect four offshore wind farms to the mainland.
In Germany, the company said milestones had been reached for the Ostwind 1 project, which will connect the onshore grid to the future Westlich Adlergrund wind farms cluster in the Baltic Sea.
50Hertz is also examining how it can meet revised renewables targets set by the new German government, Elia said.
The government plans to increase the renewables goal to 65% by 2030 from 55% previously.
“50Hertz is primarily considering greater use of the capacity of the existing transmission system,” the company added.
