Peel Energy has been given the all clear to build a 57.8MW wind farm on the island of Yell in Shetland.
Scottish ministers approved the 17-turbine Beaw Field project near the Burn of Hamnavoe under Section 36 powers.
Hardware will stretch to 145 metres and machines of at least 3.4MW are expected to feature.
The project will likely be contingent on the construction of an interconnector to the Scottish mainland.
It could compete for a proposed islands wind Contracts for Difference promised by the UK government.
