Statoil, Masdar and Statkraft will today officially open the 402MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm off the coast of Norfolk in the UK.
A ceremony will be held at Great Yarmouth’s town hall this afternoon.
Dudgeon consists of 67 Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines and has been fully operational since October.
Statoil and Masdar own 35% of the wind farm, with Statkraft holding the remaining 30%.
Statoil was the operator during construction and will remain so during the project’s 25 year operational lifetime.
The fully operational wind farm employs more than 70 people on- and offshore.
Statoil chief executive Eldar Sætre said: “As part of our strategy to develop from an oil and gas company to a broad energy major, Statoil will grow significantly in renewable energy, with an ambition to invest around £9.5bn over the next few years.
“Dudgeon is a key part of this strategy to complement our oil and gas portfolio with profitable renewable energy solutions, as well as building upon Statoil’s already strong UK presence.”
