SSE is “willing to play its part” in ensuring the survival of troubled Scottish fabricator BiFab.
“We continue to work closely with BiFab’s management and other stakeholders to find a sustainable solution, and it is in that spirit that we will do so in the days and weeks ahead,” SSE said.
The Scottish utility is a 15% shareholder in BiFab, which is facing administration over “critical” cash flow problems connected to the fabrication of 26 jacket foundations for SHL for SSE’s 588MW Beatrice wind farm in the Moray Firth.
A demonstration took place today outside the Scottish parliament to support the BiFab workers.
At the demo, Unite union Scottish secretary Pat Rafferty said it was time for SSE chief executive Alistair Phillips-Davies to use “his powers to get this sorted” with SHL.
