A2Sea jack-up Sea Challenger has started installation of 66 transition pieces for the 396MW Merkur offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The structures are being loaded out from the port of Eesmhaven in the Netherlands, with Sea Challenger (pictured) capable of carrying six transition pieces at a time.
A2Sea’s role in the project was first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
Merkur is being developed by a consortium featuring Partners Group, InfraRed Capital Partners, DEME Concessions and Coriolis.
The project will consist of 66 GE Haliade 150 6MW turbines slated for commissioning in 2019.
